CECHCR SUMMIT

CECHCR held its First Annual Health Care Reform Summit in Sacramento on May 6, 2008.  Governor Schwarzenegger was represented at the Summit and sent a strong letter of support to CECHCR. The Summit also featured an opening keynote address by Senator Darrell Steinberg, incoming President and Speaker Pro-Tem, and a luncheon speech by Lt. Governor John Garamendi. Over 40 experts and policy makers on health care spent the day discussing the issues related to providing high quality health care at reasonable costs in the public education arena, and concluded the day with recommendations for ways these cost and quality problems could be addressed. CECHCR will be producing a White Paper on the Summit, as well as a DVD with interviews of many of the participants. The participants rated the Summit a success, and urged CECHCR to hold one each year.
